speedo issues
so last night i was coming home from camping. i was driving on a dirt/gravel road for about 30 miles or so and right toward the end i noticed that my speedometer was showing wierd readings. like bouncing between 30 and 50 mph. so i went to try to see if the cable was loose on the back for the gauges, but thats a bitch. gave up. then iw as driving and i head something bouncing around and stopped to see that my speedo cable came out of the transmission. has anyone else ever had this happen? and also i havent stuck it in the air yet to fix it but does anyone ahve a pic of where it plugs into the tranny?

If the speedometer cable came out, then so did a good portion of your transmission oil. Check the level and top it off before driving the car. There will be two 4-sided plugs threaded into the side of the case. Unscrew the top one, and if oil doesn't start to run out, it's probably on the low side. You can stick a finger in to see if the level is just below the opening. If it's low, you might as well drain it all and refill with ~2.5 quarts of 75W-90.

and also my dad mentioned something about most cable driven speedos use like a common cable, making it fairly interchangable in the case of something like this happening. is this the case for my 7? or do i have to find the special one just for my car

Same thing happened to me, ive put it back, and i couldnt get a reading, so i take it off again, and i noticed that the cable inside is broken, you just have to buy a new one, and install it, should take an hour MAXIMUM, only like 5 screws on the cluster and thats it!
