Exclamation Speedo Error

When my speedo says I am doing 80mph I am actually doing 70 mph. First I thought I had a bad speedo cable, so I replaced it. It still occured. Then I replaced the speedometer itself. It is still doing it. I have a 1987 se with 185/70-14 on it. Are these tires stock? Any ideas? I will be placing 215/45-17 on all four on 3/26.

base models, and luxury coupes had the tiny 14 inch wheels with the tiny 185/70-14 tires on them.

Has the cluster or speedo cable been replaced??? perhaps the speedo gear at the tranny or the tranny itself?

What are you using as a guage for the error?

GPS is the only accurate way of determining ground speed. (that most people have access to)
