Exclamation Speedo cable keeps coming unplugged

Like the title says, my speedometer cable keeps coming unplugged if i take sharp turns or whatever.. I keep plugging it back in but it just keeps coming out. It doesnt come out fully, only a little bit to where the speedo is jumpy and inaccurate. I think I know what the problem is, it seems like the clip that holds it in is broken, because I dont hear any click sound when i plug it back in, it just slides on and off freely and easily. How would I go about fixing this? Would I have to replace the whole speedo cable or is there an easier fix that might require some fabbing? Thanks for any help.

yah i thought about that, but the problem is to be able to see and tape it well i'd have to take the gauge cluster out, which means it would no longer reach it... I suppose i can try taping it by reaching up there but its kinda hard to get to from underneath heh, i dunno how well taping it would work out, worth a shot tho

I'm not sure about clearance, but maybe a screw type hose clamp would hold it, and still be servicable.

Unbolt the end from the tranny so you'll have some slack to pull through the fire wall. Push the cable onto the back of the speedometer. Take a long zip tie or twist tie from a loaf of bread and tighten down the plastic lock onto the back of the speedometer. Now take a long bread tie and twist around the cable twice. Now take the ends and twist them around the long plastic lever that you have to push on to unlock the locking clip. It should look like a figure 8 when its finished. If you get it all tight enough then it won't come off. I should have took a picture of mine before I put the dash on.
