Speaker / Amp question......

How do you hook up the stock speakers to the Amps?

Pictures and/or digrams will be very helpful. I've got colors for the wires, as well.

Thanks for the help.

Stock speakers to the amps? There should already be a harness with the proper plugs...

Now, if you are installing an aftermarket amp, it means eliminating the stock amp and wiring it in.

Please clarify.

We're trying to hook up the JVC system to the stock wiring harness. Which wires give power and turn on the amps?

I think you would have better luck just eliminating the stock amps and powering off the deck for now, until you get a newer amp. They are only like 25 watt amps or something, the deck will have that probably and be newer. Running new wires would be a good idea too. Start fresh, that is my best advice with wiring

Right now the stock amps aren't working. The only thing "amp related" is the equalizer we have hooked up from a previous "ghetto wiring" we did before I got this system.

My friend is the one that's asking this question - so until I see him I can't do any further.

What we're trying to do for the time being (Since best buy didn't wire up the surround sound to the headrests - but they used my friend's "wiring" to wire up my system that i have now.... ) get the surround sound to atleast work....

but i'll update in about 30 mins or when i get home more info on what I'm needing to know.

edit:

Would a 40 watt amp ... uh blow my stock speakers(headrest / back below the driver/passanger seats)?

Probably the best idea is to just completely replace the stock speaker wiring. The stock wiring is part of the harness, subject to interference and is a very thin guage. The amp built into your deck is much better then the stock unit.

Quick question:

We kinda sparked the wires the other day..... which I think blew a fuse.. but at any rate:

Anytime I shut off the car, and turn it back on , my radio stations that were already programmed keep resetting - and now the "alarm" doesn't beep when you lock the doors....

anyone have any ideas as to what happened?

We were trying to hook up the headrests surround sound.....

Is there anyway to hook up the headrests to the stock amp... so it can work? (The center console controls won't turn on...)

And..how do you get power to the back amps?

Look in the body electrical section.

LOL, if your presets aren't working then your deck is wired im-properly. There is a wire that is specifically for memory. you usually have a Yellow wire, with an InLine fuse for your power. that connects directly to your battery. then there is usually a red wire as well this wire get's connect to power as well, usually the ignition switch, so when the key is on the deck powers up. When you installed the deck, did you get the adaptr to change the factory wiring harness? there is a plug that simply plugs into the factory harness, that changes all of the wiring to standard. such as red(+), yellow(+), black(-),Green(+left speaker)Green w/black stripe (-left speaker) etc...

O yeah, and rather than use the factory "Amp" use the one that is built into your deck to power your speakers. most decks are 50X4. which will pwer almost any speakers decently..... except for my set up https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...hreadid=220663

Hi 3g1t,

Yes the 2 FCs in my signature are mine. The FB is FBDrifter's here on the forum.

Gulf Breeze to Jax is about a 5 maybe 6 hour driving if you're driving the speed limit the entire way.

My brother had own the 'vert before me. When he sold me the car, he took his sound system out (and when I say took it out, he took out everything and left me with nothing besides the wires, and a few that he modified for his system). My radio got wired by Best Buy (which btw - they did a SHITTY job..... rant later), and didn't wire up the stock amp nor my headrest controls.

Which is why I'm posting for some help.

stock7, I however will be taking your advice. I printed out what you said, and will be looking into it later on tonight when I get out of class. Also when I get home, I'll beable to look at the pictures...if you haven't already uploaded them to the forum .

SureShot - Yeah. We have diagrams after diagrams printed out of the stereo / headrests. Maybe we're missing something.

I personally would just forget about the stock speakers. Pull them out and put better ones in. Better ones meaning some MB Quart, polk, dare I say Pioneer speakers. The headrest speakers suck...and putting an aftermarket system will be very rewarding. And wiring stuff isn't too hard. Don't let Best Buy screw your **** up anymore. Sorry, I have no help for the wiring diagrams and other stuff. I would not worry about sound until u have money to put in aftermarket.

The only stock speakers I have are the ones behind the passanger and driver side seats. The two up on the door are JVC / Kenwood.

The only other 4 speakers I'm missing are the ones on the corner panel of the doors - and the ones up underneathe the dash on the passanger side and (if there is one) on the driver side.

Can you get aftermarket for the headrest? I didn't think that was possible.
