Sparks from the exhuast?

Recently I was racing a buddy of mine(legally at a sanctioned event of course ) he has a V6 mustang, the reason that matters is that he was pretty far behind me by the time I was shifting into third. He says when I cracked 3rd sparks shot out of my exhuast. I said are you sure it was sparks and not flames? Because flames are normal(cue rev to 7k followed by a few flames) Nope, it didn't look like that, it looked like sparks. Then, later on at a legally santioned drifiting event, someone else told me I shot sparks hitting third. Any ideas?

There probably wasn't enough excess fuel for it to make flames, and instead made a small spark.

Well, that'd be all well and good if I didn't have a RB pre-silencer, header, and cat-back. Thanks for the help so far, but any other ideas?

that's why RB exhaust uses ceramic packing. other packings just can't take the heat of rotaries and just burn up.
