A tip with a silencer you mean? Those can be quite restrictive, I would never want to use one.

Well I'm not absolutely sure about the sound, but I think that the way the exhaust sounds will be primarily determined by everything leading up to the tips, I wouldn't think the tips would make much difference as long as they don't significantly alter the flow rate.

A baffle usualy means a circular plate or something in there (like in the throttle body/ carburator, but in the exaust) to restrict or increase air flow...

EDIT:Just because YOU know what you are talking about, and have a mental picture in your head, does not mean that others necessarily do as well, so often times, when you say, "You know, a baffle!" or something along those lines, most of us might actually NOT know depending on the context... we might be used to hearing a different term used to describe something, so you need to post pictures or describe it thoroughly or something.

i was just looking for like the loud straight pipe sound...i have no muffler on the car now and its super loud but doesnt really have a tone u no sense there is no muffler..i thought maybe a tip with a baffle in it would give it a little bit of tone to it...

if i take it to an exhaust shop and take the cats out...wouldnt they have to put the sensors in the exhaust pipe somewhere so that the ports still open up?

If Indiana is anything like Iowa on this, an exhaust shop cannot legally remove cats without replacing them. You would have to pull them yourself.

i think they can..they took the cat off my honda and didnt put one back on..and we dont have emissions either..so if they ended up taking the cats off would they have to put holes in the exhaust piping to put the sensors in the pipes so that the ports would still open up?

I don't think they'd have to put sensors in the pipes, I think the aux port actuators work off of exhaust pressure to open a mechanical switch of some sort, but yeah they'd probably have to make a hole and adapter to fit the air line for that.

Man, if the FC was designed right now, it would have the ports opened via RPM trigger, not exhaust pressure... the S5 system is still "teh failz" in this respect.

The RX-8 opens its auxillary ports via rpm triggered linear motors.
The s4 uses exhaust pressure.
The s5 uses the air pump.

Yeah, but I think a re-engineered FC would be better than an RX-8...
