Something odd happened while driving tonight.

I was driving to take my friend home, and I drop it in L. Upon dropping it in L, I would let it go to 6k rpms. Once it got to 5500 rpms, it hesitated, cause I could feel the power come and go, thus, feeling the car somewhat bog. But the sound of it at high rpms was like, braahhhhhh and then a brapping chirping noise...but with it brapping instead of chirping. Like braaahhh brabrbabrabrba, but fast....chirp like. Something is holding it back from reaching 6k rpms.

Sorry for the bad, description, but if anyone can help, I would be happy. If anone lives in Orlando, we can meet somewhere, and I can show you what I mean.

Why are you revving up to 6kRPM in "L"???
Are you trying to manually shift your automatic transmission???
The "L" gear is for low traction or going up steep grades (if I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will correct me ).

You should NOT be revving up to redline with the transmission shifted in "L" for normal driving!

Sounds like an electrical problem.

Ted: No not at all. I don't normally drive in L. So far, I've only done it 5 times. And those 5 were in a 4 month span. Maybe 6.

Ice: Oh.....I was told it wouldn't hurt the tranny at all. But, now that you told me this, I won't be touching that again. Thank you. Glad I get a nice free check on Friday(don't have to pay bills with).

Anywyas, well I changed my fuel filter, and started it up, only to see white smoke come out the back of the car. Rev it again, and white smoke came from the back again, but also from under the car. It was just a burning smell. I'm guessing this is from changing out the ffuel filter, or I could very well have a hole in my exhaust. Or something even worse.

Yeah, I'd be checking if you burnt the ATF.

Id say ATF like him.
Or White smoke can sometimes mean running too rich. Does it smell like fuel?

Nope, no fuel smell at all. Since I get paid Friday, I'll take my car in, either on Friday or Saturday to have it changed. Correct me if I'm wrong on this, but if I did burn my ATF, then my gears should start slipping, correct?
