something odd happened today

so i parked my car at my new place last week cause i blew a rad hose. got it fixed at the shop i work at cause i didn't wanna mess around with fixing it myself. not that i can't but i was moving soon and needed to get packing. well i started her up to go to work. didn't wanna wake up my possibly sleeping landlord so i put her in gear so it wouldn't rev to 3k. start her up and it was running on 1 rotor i was like wtf? it died pretty quick. go to start it again it starts up i give it some gas and let off the gas and it died. so i said **** it and took it out of gear started it. it got to 2.5k on the 1 rotor then all the sudden the other rotor starts working all the sudden. no idea wtf was goin on hasn't done it since. and now its running cooler than it was. anyone think that a bad rad hose could make it run hotter?

Yes it would run hotter if a radiator hose blew if that is the question being asked. Loss of coolant+loss of flow=engine not getting cooled.

either you got coolant in the ignition or fuel system connections or the car just gave you a sign that the coolant seals are now on their way out due to the overheat.

not trying to scare you, but given the story you shared, i would pressure test the cooling system.

also, does anyone at your work hate you? lol j/k

a simple pressure test doesn't always tell you that the coolant seals are ok. but i won't say that it is for sure a problem, i'm still leaning towards coolant in connectors when the hose blew if it sprayed all over the engine bay, it is common.

coolant seals, when on their way out, will intermittently cause the engine to run on one rotor in some cases for about 10-20 seconds until the coolant is burned off inside the engine.

i always had a feeling that i had a coolant seal problem never wanted to be 100% on it cause the dude i got it from said it was a coolant seal...but he knows almost nothing about rotaries so i didn't really put to much into his diagnosis. also when i got to work today witch is like a 5-10 min drive i popped the hood for *****. i herd my brand new rad cap leaking so i think my rad is clogged. anyone have a thought on my rad being clogged up plan on getting a nice nflo when i do my rebuild anyway. just be nice if me switching the rad had a warranted reason.
