Someones buyin them- hows the quality?

FC owners are obviously buying those $199 or best offer GPsport replica full body kits. Anyone on Rx7club? If your here let me know about the quality of the kits. I know they arent gonna be the best, but hey they are only $199 and ive even seen em go for $155 too!

Dont post if your gonna debate about the appearance of GPsports kits or body kits or drift kits its played out blah blah blah, And dont post if ur talkin out of ur *** and have no experience with the kits. And yea i know threads like this on ebay kits have already been posted. Im talking about the quality of a specific kit. People who have bought one know which one im talking about. And no no link, because they are currently all sold out and none on ebay.

-thanks, matt

i bought one, the fit ment sucks.. I bought it because i planned on shaving the moldings off and didnt want to do it to a expensive kit. Of course with time, and blood you can make anything fit......

I bought one of these kits from a seller on ebay, KGS Engineering Body Kits I believe was the ebay store that I ended up buying from. I bought it for $185 but had to pay $240 for shipping.

The kit that I received is in perfect condition, no cracks or obvious deformities. The fit is good as far as test fitting can tell me, I have not decided which FC to put it on though so I can't say how it actually ends up.

But I think it depends on the specific kit you get, these are replica kits and are probably just made in batches, the quality probably varies quite a bit from what I have heard/seen on this board.

The sellers alway say that these kits are only to be installed by professionals for a reason, they know it isn't going to be perfect out of the box, you're always gonna have to do some work to get it right, the amount of finish work depends on the quality and the fit of the body kit that you happen to buy.

Post pics if you put this kit on and good luck.

Have you ever bought something that you ended up throwing away in the trash?

You do realize that if you want a "show finish", you're going to end up spending thousands to get that $199 body kit to look nice on your car?

I don't get why people get cheap like this...

Or are you planning to rivet and then rattle can your project?

Well, the reason I bought this kit is that one of my FCs has existing body damage from somebody backing into it while it was parked. I am already planning on installing wide body rear panels to cover the majority of the damage but since I will be trying this all myself I wanted to go all the way.

I'll be fitting wide body front and rear fenders, doing some rough dent removal, learning how to bondo and paint with a gun finally. The body kit is really just another chance to play around with the GXL while the TII gets only performance oriented work.

I figured I would have my GXL as a "beater"/drift that can be used to learn a lot of body work and I wouldn't mind banging up a $450 kit as much as a $2500 kit.
I would never want a "show finish" car w/ a body kit, persoanlly I am not into the show scene, and can't imagine spending thousands of dollars on chrome, wax, stickers and body kits, I would rather spend that money on engine and drivetrain mods for my TII. but I am gonna have fun slapping this kit on my GXL for a beater project.

Thats why I bought a cheap kit, so I can smash it and not feel bad and then have fun trying to put it all back together.

you do realize these cars are over 15 years old and alot of people drive them daily.. so show quality wouldnt have been a concern.. besides they look great fitted, is your idea of "show quality work" meaning it has to be molded in? I dont understand how it would need thousands on work and installment..

It depends on who you get it from.. there is only soo many body kit manufacturers in China, so alot of vendors will be selling the same kit, where as maybe another vender might be getting thier kit from another manafactuer, and that is where one kit might be crappy over another.

besides, wiht a cheap kit, you can smash/break it on the street or track and not have a heartache over its price =p

I got a AIT kit.. fits good

This is why I don't buy that crap.

How can you use the word "quality" when talking about cheap **** like this?
This is why I'm bitching.
You ever heard of the phrase: "You get what you pay for"?

You pay for cheap, you're going to get cheap.
Don't expect too much.
I'm not hatin'...like a lot of you like to proclaim.
Sometimes you got to get a hold of reality...WTF are you guys smokin'?
