Obviously, this was written a long time ago. That was then, this is now.
I own: 80 RX since new, 86 base, 90 Vert, 85 gsl-se. When the weather is fine and it's time to cruise, whatcha goin ta do? It's a toss up between the vert (streetport to help make up lost ponies) and the 78 Harley Cafe Racer. Which by the way gets as many stares as the Vert.

Guys, don't over analyze it, the RX's are beautiful, fun, unique cars. Not everybody understands them, that's probably why we love them so much.
Just drive em and have fun.
At least that's what I intend to do.
just my opinion, I could be wrong,

Owning a vert.....I agree and disagree with some of the things he said.

True.....the car has no power at all. That Ford Taurus he referred to would probably wipe my *** in a race. I don't think this car was ever marketed to be a powerful hot rod. I believe the intent was to offer a great looking convertible that was fun to drive, not to light up the tires at a stop light. If I wanted that I would have bought that ugly Mustang convertible. I disagree with his thoughts on the interior being stylish and good quality. I think the interior on these verts are about as shitty as anything I've ever seen and don't really see how they could have been stylish even 10-15 years ago. Flat surfaces, hard to use controls (who ever thought up those damn non-cancelling turn signal switches and those stupid burning-up wiper switches), cheap plastic that breaks easily, leather that the finish wears off of, seatbelt latches that look like something out of a 60's VW Beetle, etc. I think other RX7 owners would agree with most of these interior gripes. With a car that was priced in the high 20k range, I think that the interior should have been top quality. I would not disagree with the fact that these cars were way overpriced for what you got. The quality was lacking IMO.

I don't have any trouble seeing out the back of my car. That's what mirrors are made for.

I like my vert because its rotary engine is very unique and unlike anything else on the road, and it looks damn good when it is all cleaned up and the top is down. With verts in good shape becoming more and more scarce....makes it even better to own it.

How many of you have seen the 90+ (not including 89) interiors of the GXL?
I have mine in black leather, in terrific condition.
I think it looks fantastic.

My older 88GXL seemd a lot more dated, with these weird "curtains" on the door panels, and really bad leather.

The 90+ is actually really nice, especially the seats. (total redesign)
I don't know about anything other than the GXL though.
I love mine, that's my story, and I'm sticking with it!

That guy is most definitely a moron. The whole thing was just poorly written...it was as though he formed his opinion of the car right from the start, and throughout the whole review he just focused on insulting everything, rather than presenting the actual facts.
