Someone please help me. My car is hitting a CUT, not fuelcut.

ok. I HAD a Stoaks homemade FCD and I thought it was a piece of crap so I bought a real FCD, its a Racingbeat model.

So I'm driving my car, pretty fast.. oh what fun! I hit 7psi of boost tonight at 6k rpms (this was at half throttle) and my car seems to hit what felt like some sort of fuel cut.

What a piece of ****. I dono whats up with this thing.

I hear some sort of blowoff, like my BOV is opening up. What the hell? could my BOV be bad? Its prolly original for 143k miles.

I replaced both rubber hoses that make contact to the turbo. the bottom half of the TID, and the 2" piece that goes from the top of the turbo to the.... whatcha call it splitter thing. The intercooler hoses are original and look to be in good shape. Tomarrow I'll check the hose clamps I guess.

Is there any other thing that would cause Fuel Cut???

2doritosonastick on Drakk0r's PC:

It is compressor surge. Do some searches on this. Your compressor "surge limit" is where at a certain "speed" your turbo will not want to produce less boost. This happens if you go half throttle at high rpms, or if you put a tiny turbine section on too large of a compressor.

That doesnt make sense. the car totally looses acceleration. its as if someone turned off the key.

Tomarrow I will try to make it do it again at 1/2 throttle, then again at full throttle... BTW, I was getting 7psi of boost at the time when it "cut out"

Hey, just a thought. If you are getting compressor surge, Mazda's solution to this is the infamous Restrictor Pill in line with the pressure sensor. Check and make sure you have one in that line.

Which is it? Fuel cut or Surge????? If the orifice or pill is not there, you get spikes in the boost/pressure sensor that causes fuel cut. At least on my turbo without the fuel cut defender. But thats fuel cut that I experience, not a surge.

you know, I think I may have found the problem with my car. I investigated all the intake hose clamps and a bunch of them were pretty loose. this would explain the blow off sound I was hearing and the slight drop in power right before the sound. It still bothers me though, I really hate to test it out to see if it is all fixed. I have a fuel cut defender but I do not have the pill. Should I get the pill???

If my car still hits this cut off thing then I'm going to sell it.

I dont have experience with the T2, but i remember on my friend's T2. Car would start to let out these huge air releasing sound when the intercooler pipe was coming loose. It eventually led to stalling
