Someone help please....

Anyone that has changed a water pump please respond. I need to get my car back together. I put the pump back on but can't get the pulley on the water pump. It hits the main pulley, that I have heard is balanced. Is this true? I really need to get this all put back together. Thanks. O ya, incase I have to take off that main pulley does anyone have a diagram of the pulley system? Thanks again.

you sure you got the correct water pump? You can remove water pump without taking the main pulley off, but if you remove the water pump housing assembly, you need to pull off the main pulley. here is a look at mine.

Ok, no torque wrench so I snapped the bolt that tightens the alternator & the alternator belt. How do I fix this? I have the bolt out, just need another. Anyone near Gibsonton/Riverview with a spare Rx7 I can take 1 single bolt from? Need help.

You have to take off the pulleys on the eccentric shaft. They are held on with four bolts. Do not take the large nut in the center off. Just look and you will see the four bolts. Be alert here. There is only one way that bolt pattern in the pulleys will align with the eccentric shaft. If you do not get the right holes on the pulley aligned with the correct holeS on the shaft, only maybe three out of four holes will align. Make some kind of mark on the eccentric shaft to align with a mark on the pulleys. Trust me. If you don't you'll have bloody hell and perhaps wallow out and break things. The four holes in the pulley will align with the four holes in the eccentric shaft only one way. If this is not clear write back. I know on my cars you CANNOT get the waterpump pulley on unless the bottom pulleys are remove first as described above. Just to be a little clearer, DO NOT TAKE THE LARGE NUT OFF THE ECCENTRIC SHAFT. ONLY REMOVE THE FOUR BOLTS THAT ATTACH THE PULLEYS AND THEN REMOVE THE PULLEYS.

E6KT2...YUP. Been there, done that. The crime is I did it more than once. Dumb and dumber. I swear, I don't have a lick of sense. Falls under the old saying *Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me*. P.S. Ryde or Dye......once again, if you do not mark how they were before you take the four bolts off, they are a mother doggy to align especially with the engine in the car and you not being able to see the hole pattern direct on.

yea, as I said earlier(in your other post) and hailers just re-Said (I know it's not a word)...

Whoever said the water pump can go off without taking E shaft off, what kind of 2nd gen do you drive? I was told you could possibly TILT the water pump pulley to get it off, but I tried and it didn't come close, you do have to take the eshaft pulley off to get water pump off..

and as Hailers said, DONT TAKE THE BIG BOLT OFF THE ESHAFT OR YOU COULD MESS UP YER ENGINE GOOD =(

best way to do it is to turn yer motor until yer timing mark is lined up with the timing indicator thingy mabober doohickey, (to be technical) Then take off the 4 small bolts and keep them in the pulley so they don't get misaligned.. makes it easy..

And make sure you have NEW gaskets, or else you will have a DAMN coolant leak that will **** you off and make you want to curse at small children =(

Ok I got it all done, I took the 4 bolts off the main pulley. Actually had to take all the pulleys and everything off that main shaft. They wouldn't go back on right. So I am guessing they only go on one way. I figured out that way & got it all back together. Is there any way I messed my car up? Like the order of the pulleys on the main shaft? I dunno, my car now idles where it should more, like around 1000 instead of 1200-1500. Is that good or bad? Thanks.

Your idle is a touch high. Should be 750. Best thing to do if you want to set it right is to download the factory service manual at http://www.iluvmyrx7.com section 4B. There are several things that can cause a fast idle so the best thing is to start from scratch in section 4A. Also timing too far advanced can raise the idle a bit. Timing advanced too far on a rx causes problems with the apex seals according to Racing Beat, Mazdatrix and word of mouth. And in reference to Mr Green, maybe there is some configuraton of pulleys that you do not have to remove the lower pulleys, but I don't have it on my cars. Not that hard to remove the lower pulleys if one knows the potential problems and does it like you said. I have at least once remove the large bolt on the eccentric shaft, and the whole assy, hub and all to do this job(Craftsman breakover on the nut and breakover resting on the frame, hit the starter and zip, the nut is loose. Works most of the time if the nut is'nt overtorqued). Never yet had the problem with the needle bearing falling down doing this, although that is potential problem.

Well Hailers, my idle was high, at 1200-1500. I change the water pump & it goes down to about 900-1000. What would explain that? I am alsp having trouble deciding if my car is slower or not. Not quite sure.
