Crap... I thought I would just have to replace a cracked side seal...
My car has been smoking a lot whenever it was under high vacuum...
I guess this is why!!
Can I get this lapped by any machine shop for fairly cheap??

not as bad as my rebuild for senior project. I'll have pics up after my final presentation/speech on the 11th. You guys can prepare to cringe.

To answer your question, the only place I know of on the East Coast that will do it is down in Florida, and I dont believe the price is worth it. You're better off buying a new one, thats what my mentor told me (he's been fixing rotaries since the rx-2) when we got my engine open. Keep trying around though and keep us all posted.

You can get it lapped fairly cheaply, but then you will also have to have it nitrided for stock wear characteristics... and these combined can add up. As well, it looks like some of those pits are fairly deep, and thus would take a lot of lapping to remove. This would likely make the coolant seal grooves too shallow, and they would have to be re-machined as well, adding to cost.

It will be cheaper and easier to find a decent used iron.
