so I finally put my strut brace on, but...
it touches my alternator slightly. If it is idling or off it doesnt touch, and even when I rev it when it is stopped it doesnt rub, but I can feel it every time I hit the accelerator. and I can hear it slapping the alternator when I go over any kind of bump. It looks like it is making a little grove in the bar where it hit the alt. and the only way I can get it to touch the alt. when I have the hood up I can look and see the smallest amount of space between the two.
I am just wondering if this will damage the alternator or the bar. my guess is that the bar will go first? but I would like to hear any opinions.
I am probably going to remove it for now.

I have heard of the same problem from lots of people. Mine does not seem to be causing any problems. It will probably won't hurt either, but do what you fell is necessary.

I wish I was driving!
Unbolt the fan, and just set it inside the shroud.
Take off the p/s belt, a/c belt, and then air pump belt. Slip the belts over the fan, and then slip the new belt on, and go in reverse.
should take you a max of 25 mins.

Nope.  All the belts have to come off - you might as well change ALL of them at the same time.  This way, just cut all the old belts off and put all the new belts on...

Until you get around to changing the alternator belt, a temporary fix would be to put one or two flat washers on the front inner strut stud under the strut bar mount ring. This will raise the strut bar up enough to clear the alternator, make sure the strut stud is all the way thru the strut nut when you tighten it, so the nut won't back off.

you can put a couple of washers under the bar, works on the fd's when you put an intercooler in
