Smoking when cold, not coolant
My 91 puts out a big cloud of smoke when started cold. The smoking decreases as it warms and is completely gone by the time the engine reaches normal operating temp. I tryed the Block Seal fix referenced elsewhere in the forum, and yes, I followed it exactly. The result is absolutely no difference in smoking. I know that one rotor has low compression. Is it possible the low compression is making my car burn extra oil on startup? My oil consumption is about a quart every two to three weeks. How do I tell if it's oil and not coolant I'm burning? If it is an oil issue, is there any one oil that smokes less than others?

A quart every two to three weeks? You're eating some oil, if it's not pissing out of a leak somewhere. If compression is REALLY low, the oil system pressurization might be overcoming your oil control rings...
