Smoke on startup after rebuild??
Hello all,
Please don't bash because I have low posts...as my iscription date tell you, I lurk a lot and search a lot before posting... almost always searching found my answer so I didn't bother writing
Anyway to make story shot: I just got a 1990 FC Turbo II, and when I checked, oil pressure was low, so to be on safe route (car had 159k km on its original engine...) decided to rebuild.
Turbo (same km as engine presumed , no rebuild signs visible) seemed ok having so low to nothing play that I didn't rebuilt it, since using hands it would seem not in need for anything else besides some cleaning...
Was found out that the low oil wasn't engine (compression on all faces was about 90 psi) faulty...it was the oil circuit pump that was age-old ....and was probably nowadays unable to keep up pressure.
I asked for little porting , lapping of internal parts and nothing more than rebuild engine, and that was done, using mazda OEM parts for everything worn out and needed to be changed.
Engine was put back in car , every smog equipment was removed, a second oil cooler installed, walbro 255 was put in, the rest is stock parts oem mazda.I just passed 600km on it, did oil change at 500 and put in a modded oil pan with some baffling
Now the car on startup smokes a bit and stops just after starting ... compression is ok, oil pressure is ok... car runs, idle and goes fine...as far as breakin it I can go (keeping it under 3500rpms..) it seems ok... only problem I am seeing is the tranmission that is a little noisy when it's cold...but I didn't think it's related...
WTF is happening?? Could be Turbo gone because of low oil pressure??
I had been told it could even be the Oil Metering pump ...but to tell you truth...I don't know how to check it now that car is fully on the road again...
