Question smoke

almost every time i drive over 5k my engien smokes. its bluish smoke. so guess its oil. if i stay over 5 grand for a couple of seconds then shift, BIG smoke cloud! as bigh as my car and thick. what is a common reason burning all this oil at high rpm? my first guess would be bad turbo things, but it smokes even if i don't boost.

in the faq their is something about testing your oil control rings, rev to about 6000 rpms for 8 seconds i think then quickly let go and if you see blue smoke than more than likely the oil control rings are spent. but maybe the oil pump produces more oil pressure at that kind of rpm causing a leak into the turbo.?!? what if the pcv valve isn't venting would that cause a high crankcase pressure resulting in smoke? it only takes a little bit of oil to make a lot of smoke.

Mine is also doing the same thing. A couple differences though. It IS coming only out of the exhaust, by my car is an N/A. It also just had a motor put into it. So in my case, does it have something to do with the fact that's it's new? Could the engine temperature cause this if it were too low?

What if it's coming from under the hood and not the exhaust? I can see some oil right where the first housing (from the front) and the mid plate (where the oil neck is). I can't tell if it's coming from where they sandwich or if something is leaking onto that spot. It's a TII so it's kinda hard to see areound the IC.

mileage?

Hitachi's occasionally decide to puke an oil seal, not uncommon. Also, do the oil control ring test mentioned above.

My 110k TII smokes blue in the morning every time for the first 10 min if taken over 3000rpm. Oil control rings are starting to tire out.
