smaller injectors

A buddy of mine has an 89rx-7 turbo and he's using 250 as primary and 370 as secondary injectors...how the heck is he doing this? To me it seems to be a bad idea, but then again I don't know much about rotary engines..the injectors he has should support around 240hp max?
*Also he tells me even with the 250 and 370 injectors he's dumping an excessive amount of fuel at idle...fire from exhaust and stinging smell of gas.

Depends what pressure the flow of those injectors are measured at. Stock injectors flow 550cc/min @ 250kPa but will only flow ~300cc/min @ 75kPa.

So they either they were flowed at a lower pressure or he's full of it…

Point here is, I can go around telling people I have 100Cc injectors in my car, if I flow them at a low enough pressure.

Either way, thats slight disinformation, in my opinion.

he is probably just wrong... those injectors would make around 100hp.... stock is 550 and 550 and they don't even make 300.

edit: or he's using injectors in pounds instead of cc... forget the conversion on that. 370 would be HUGE though. maybe 37

You do that, cause I'm curious... but there is no way in hell that those injectors are rated 250 and 350 MAX duty cycle in CC/Minute or he'd have roached that motor the first time he gave it boost.. Even if he has a haltech and is running them full duty cycle that motor would have nuked the first time it saw 5 psi of boost.

You are right to question this, because if you go ask for 250 or 370 injectors from a Rice Shop.. you are going to get itty bitty injectors because they are automatically going to give you ones in cc/minute. However, I've never even tried to buy injectors of that size so i don't even know if they make those sizes!!

I suspect that your buddy is a Squid, and doesn't really have the righ numbers

followup

Well I got to take a look at the injectors that were on the car, and they are 550s. I've been bothering him all day long about these numbers. I think he looked up the specs on the web or a manual. Hopefully he hasn't used the 370cc injectors because I did see a few of them lying around which were originally for a hyundai..bah.
