slow cranking, tried all I can think of...
Okydoke, after much searching and wrenching my car is almost road worthy again. S5 shortblock, all emissions removed, 3" turboback, htrim hybrid, 1k cc secondaries, 800cc primaries, os giken twin plate, fmic, lt10s, and drag radials.
I get it all back together, and the starter turns slowly. very slowly. sounds like a dead cat.
Things I have done:
-motor cranks by hand fine, save for a little resistance during compression
-bought reman starter (same slow cranking though)
-ran secondary ground cable from starter bolt to fender, tried a new positive and still no change.
-tried my battery from my running GTU and still slow cranking
-redid battery ground, no change, cleaned chassis grounds (starter to fender, tranny to firewall, 5 pin connector near trailing coils (thanks aaroncake for the informative writeup)
-cleaned starter mating surfaces
Other concerns:
-microtech read 10.71ms with the key one click over the other day, now reading 8.9ms. I am going to be checking my injectors to see if one is stuck maybe?
-microtech will NOT hold my TPS settings for whatever reason, it seems everytime i have to adjust several tens of percents to get the amber light back.
-i am now getting an intermittent rpm error on the microtech, have yet to really search on this though, i hear maybe it is supposed to happen if you crank and then turn the key back to the first click. as I havent successfully fired up yet.
Keep in mind this is after an entire swap, did I miss a connector somewhere? I checked all I could and the only conclusion I can draw is maybe my old starter wend bad and this reman is also bad?
if anyone can lend any advice it would be most appreciated, thanks for your time,

The battery negative lead should be attached to the LOOOOOONG bolt the holds the starter on and should be tight.
The battery positive lead should go to the starter solenod.
The batt negative lead ALSO branches off and attaches to the chassis just below the left strut tower. That branch is a minor player in the turning over of the starter.
Starters that are bad can turn over rapidly if no load is on them. Like sitting out of the car on a table.
Batterys do go bad also.
I've no idea why your starter turns slowly if it's not one of the above.

yeap the pos and neg leads are correct, i did my homework
ive tried my gtu batt and no go, ill try a brand new batt along with yet another reman and see if i cant get this squared away.
