Good thread, makes me want to get on the ball about prepping and painting all the S5 parts and T2 hood to go on my FC.

Don't let the bitching people get you down, the 'vert looks good. Those 8 wheels should look good on it, too.

what kind of prep work did you do to those wheels? and what kind of paint did you use?

I rattle-canned my t2 rims black and (big surprise) they lasted for like a week before they started to get chips in the paint.

They were in such bad shape that I still think they look better than they did, but I'd like to paint them properly some day.

btw, nice paint job! especially for a garage paint job done in a few days.

i was thinkin of starting a 'paint your wheels thread' but not sure...

for me to prep all 4 wheels, Excluding the little amount of glaze, if needed for curb rash, and spraying primer.

all i did was

1. get that red scotch pad, its expensive in autozone and kragen,

2. you need purple power to remove grease,

3. remove weights off rim. for those of you who have the .25 .5 oz stick weights that are on the inside of the rims. take them of. laqure thinner and a flat blate works good.

4. elbow grease

so in shape perferably. soak the rim in water inside first. then soak it in purple power full concentrate. let it sit for a min, then with a pice of that scotch start scrubbing, the more you clean the better you are in the outrun. but while you clean with the pad, your sanding/preping your wheels. haha then use that flat blade to knock off any hard grease *****/ dirty.

once your done there, flip it over, use a different new pad, its better to have a lot of em.. use them frequently "scratch" the whole rim till all surfaces are done.

if you have curb rash, thats a whole another sanding process with 220, little bondo, and primer.

but if your rims are clean, should be easy. now you find your choice of color, buy a half pint. and a medium hardener for your clear coat.

before you spray, make sure your rim is clean of GREASE as it will chip/flake or fish-eye also.

ok, im really tired of typing... ill fishish this post later with pics..

Hey man good job it's looking good! What kit are you thinking of? oem skirts and a shine lip would look killer. The first pic you posted with the 8 wheels kinda looks like you have some "+" camber in the front, or is that just me??

the + camber was because i just lowered the car from putting the rims on..

ok so i need some help with the tranny... does anyone know about these 5 speeds??

the problema:

the stick is REALLY SLOPPY! like bad, but it does still engage, and drive FINE WITH NO-POP outs, so the question is, what prevents this? im assuming a bushing of some sort is bad, but i dont know what to order, and also, while we replaced the tranny, a small plastic piece fell out of the end of the speedo-calbe.. did i just FUQK myself into buying a new speedo cable???

any help would be cool

im not sure about the plastic piece off the tranny, but the sloppy feeling shifter is most likely due to bushings...my shifter is also feeling sloppy and my mechanic said it was most likely just the bushings.

The bushings are certainly the fix... cheap and quick repair!

The plastic that fell out of the tranny is the seal if I remember. I made the mistake of not putting it back in, then had oil dripping down my leg a few days later... yes, from inside the car. It went all the way up the speedo cable, and dripped down from the instrument cluster. REPLACE IT!
