Sometimes it looks like major bodywork misalignment, and from a different angle it looks like open flaps on a plane. I'll vote cool just because its different.

you could just buy the controller so you can position the lights at any position you want and when you turn the lights on they will function like they are supposed to but when off they go to the *sleepy postion* you choose

I have a controller which controls the lights position when they are off. I am not sure if they sell them anymore but it used to be a popular item

well.......

If you look in Japanese tuner magazines, almost every car with pop-up headlights has them sleepy style
Well...

The Japanese are also GA-GA over a "boy-band" that march around naked and wear fig leaves and sing songs about the name of thier group!

YATTA, The Japanes N'Sync!!!

The Japanese can be a BIZARRE bunch to say the least!

So pardon me if i bow out of copying alot of the new FADS over there....

SLeepy Eye

Sleepy eyes don't quite look right with full size lamps.
East Bear Open look is very slick.
The attachment is an alternative sleepy eye look that appears better. As long as you are not sacrificing illumination for a look than Broken Eye or Black Eye look is okay.

well that is the same in any country, after living here for so long I sometimes look at the states and say, what the hell is that. Not picking on anybody but what is it with this bump thing that appears on this list all the time. Not knocking it just curious.

I mean everyone in the states loves Fast and Furious right!? To Each his own I say..

I have the Diamond cuts and they look nice. The ones I got came with the city lights but I haven't hooked them up yet. Here is a pic of the lights on at night.

Oh my God, me and my friends found that video like 2 months ago, and it is the funniest **** I have ever seen in my life. At first I thought it was a joke, then I realized that it was actually popular! I think I must have watched that video about 75 times, and it doesn't stop getting funny. Good point on the Japanese finding some strange things being cool though. Ive seen some of those conversion vans over there that look like space shuttles with big fiberglass decks hanging off the back. I don't know what anyone found to be cool about those, they looked like a giant bowl of diarrea driving down the road

I know exactly what you mean. The first time I saw that I almost died of laughter, then realized that they have HUGE car clubs just filled with those cars. What's even worse is those stupd K cars doing the same thing.

As far as the sleepy eye effect, I'd say that most of the cars here in Japan are FAR from being "ricey". When I had an FC, most of the 180sx/silvia guys gave me quite a few compliments on how good my car looked(but they had the sleepy eye look too.)

I also had the "diamond style" lights with 135/125W bulbs and had the headlights about half way down. Then I took the stupid rubber piece on the hood and in front of the air intake, and took it out...kind of like a cold air ram effect

the controller is made by PIVOT. I have one, but haven't put it in yet. Probably because the instructions are in Japanese.

You couldn't of said it better. You either have them up or down..It's one or the other. Half way up or down?? Nope. I'm glad the '91 GTU I'm getting give me the chance to have them on but just have them down.

Hey, don’t knock Kei cars, those things are cool! 3-cyl 660cc turbo engines capable of being modded up to 200hp in a car weighing as little as 1600lb! Scary...

Because you can do something is not a reason to do it.

How do I change the wiring so that I can turn my headlights on but keep them retracted all the way?

I saw them on a 300zx a couple days ago and didn't dig it. They just say "over here, look at me" a little to much for my taste. 2 each his own though. many people don't like things that I like, dosent mean I'm not going to or haven't already done them.

that kit is awesome

I only like that one though, none of the other kits I've seen appeal to me.

I think it looks cool at night, but i did it once, and it's a pain to have to put it back in the morning. I wouldn't mind having one of those kits you can get that you can adjust from the cockpit. It's pretty cool if you like the sleek light look, and it's much easier. Just a thought.
