My (dad's) 86' Rx-7 cracks me up. Everything is stock except for a rebuild(that's what my dad says) a few years ago. Anyway, he doesn't drive the car much and I drive it every day now. The paint is faded and the car has a few small dents. It's just showing the wear and tear. The car just makes me laugh. The headlights broke and they didn't come up or go down and my father replaced all that crap and needed a new **** for the headlights. So instead of paying $200 for a new one he custom installed 3 switches. One to operate the lights going up and down, one to turn the interior lights on and off, and one to turn the headlights on or off. We also stole some seats out of a 90' rx-7 that was in a junkyard that are actually pretty nice... they're leather. We used to have cloth. And since we have the base model, we only had decals instead of emblems. My dad took those off because they were looking pretty crappy. So now the car only has the one mazda decal on the front end and fading paint, the 80's rims, and me an 18 year old kid driving it everywhere. It's an amazing car and so much fun to drive but it really just makes me laugh sometimes to think how rediculous it must look. Not that the looks matter to me, but other people must be thinking that it can't be that quick. Boy do those spinning rotors show them.

Have to agree, the car makes a statement even today.

I've got a 1st gen owner down the street that had the car sitting for 2 years now. I drop by a few times a year just to bug him to fix it up Just needs some minor trans work, but now the hood is starting to rust

You might talk your dad into going to the local rx-7 meet sometime, there lots of fun.
