Question Sitting all winter

My 86 n/a has been sitting all winter and I was wondering if there's any precautionary steps that I should take before that first spring start. other than charging the battery And, I still haven't gotten that O2 sensor off

Put a few drops of MMO in the rotor chamber, make sure you get each side. Turn the motor over by hand. Change all fluids etc. Then start it up.

I just park mine in the garage like I do when I drive it every day. I like to start it every month or so. Winter isn't all that long.

As long as the motor moves at least once a month then you should be good. -Gabe

With the rotary, any chance you can get to go out and start it up letting it warm to operating temp. you should take it if you plan on letting it sit for any length of time. last thing you want is a seized engine. You may try the ATF trick. I don't know if it's better than using MMO, but this seems to be a bit more popular in the board.

Best best is to start it up, let it warm up at least once a month. Take it for a drive if possible so tranny and brakes get some use. I've been doing this for 15 years with success.

I think this is so much easier than letting it sit and trying to figure out whats wrong in the spring. One of my buddies dad's has a few classics (T-bird and Vettes) that have more problems from sitting than if he would use them.

I am in the same situation, besides using ATF, is there a way to prime the motor with oil before firing her up.
I was going to flip my fuel pump cut-off switch to off and give her a few cranks first. You think thast will get enough oil in there?

I believe he was talking about putting a product called Marvel Mystery Oil in the plug holes.
Anyone else tried this?

Marvel Mystery Oil, should be able to pick some up at most major part stores. The spark plug holes would be the place.
