Question Single exaust 2 inline pre-silencers

87 FC TII STOCK

see the attached picture. If I installed 2 pre-silencers inline with each other would this reduce the loudness significantly??? or would it just sound the same as a long *** glass pack?

are glass-packs the same as pre-silencers?

no glass pcaks oere not the same as silencers, it would be a mistake to install glass packs, one they will not last becauxe the 7s run hotter than any other car and two they sound sick on a 7. IMO

if you wanted to use glasspacks on a rotary, you would need to replace the fiberglass w/ steel wool, but that requires cutting and welding.

and do you mean sick as in good, or sick as in the car sounds like its running shitty and is sick

Borla XR-1 series race mufflers are about the same size as a glass pack. They are stainless thru and thru. Cost the same as a pre-silencer thou. I'm considering using one of the borla mufflers after the header collects and a single supertrapp coming out the back. Everything will be stainless except for the header.

Glass packs will hold up only at the tip end of the pipe where the temps are lower. You need steel up near the cat. The presilencers set the tone. The mufflers set the loud (sort of).

Currently I have a custom Racing Beat road race header. The guy I got it from tested with different lengths headers to where it merged into one pipe(short primary or long primary) and according to him this was the best length he found for using the weber 48 DCOE carb on a stock port engine. I actually have the same engine he used but it has lost compression so I've got another one for the race car. If that works good I'll keep this setup till I goto FI at which time I'm gonna have to start over.

The presilencer really does little to quiet down the exhaust. I have a TII presilencer (RB) on my n/a w/ header and N1 single catback. It is still freakin loud. You remove the cat, and a rotary gets real loud, real quick....
