simple question about upgrading my car
i was reading a post last night, and all i took away from it was that the slightest upgrade to my car without porting my waste gate, will only lead to blowing up my engine.
i drive a jdm t2 swap, all im looking to do at the moment is get the RB rev t2 exhaust for the moment.
can anybody clarify this please.

Keep on Gaining info while you are searching for parts for the old Beast.
The Fuel cut defender is good for when you open up the Exhaust(go bigger).Also porting the wastegate.
The Mods you can do are sort of limitless,and stops when your wallet is empty,so "think smart" and you can make the car pretty reliable and have fun too.
If you can keep the boost down until you can find out what the Consequences of NOT having certain parts on to assure that the engine won't Blow on ya,would be a good thing.
..as they say,,it is all in the tuning.(and a little info on how **** operates can't hurt ya either!!!!..hahha!)
Cheers and Good luck..Rotor on!.STYX!~

LOL at telling him to get an FCD. Fuel cut is there to help you NOT blow your engine up. Port the wastegate first, a great time would be when you are installing your new exhaust. It's not that hard and you could take it to a machine shop to do it if you feel inadequate. It also gets you very intimate with how the turbo system functions.

At least the OP is asking questions and wanting to take the right steps (I didnt the first time around). Get yourself a boost gauge and a wideband. The wideband will tell you whats going.

Everyone is talking about raising boost and no one has mentioned cleaning or upgrading injectors? Not sure what they are flowing but its probably not as much as it should be. Although a walbro will over run the stock fpr so you might be ok for a while.
Ideally one would port the wg first, then get exhaust. If more boost is desired a boost controller should be installed in conjunction w/ an fcd (which is in NO WAY a safety device) and cleaned or new injectors. A wide band would be nice, but at 10 or so psi, not really necessary.
Common band aids that seem to work include;
A walbro 255 on stock injectors/ fpr....raises fuel psi
Aftermarket fpr on stock injectors....raises fuel psi (limited by the stock pump)
Gsl-se 680cc injectors in secondary position....runs rich, but provides a safety margin
