i have 3 13b n/a motors that i can use. im deciding whether i should just ship one of them off to get built or should i just buy a 13b twin turbo model and go from there. now i know that i might not be able to get but 300hp outa the n/a 13b but its just for now till i can have time to play and spend endless amounts of money to put in it... i don't care if its boosted or not i just want something that i can have a little fun in... so should i go n/a 4port of twin turbo 6port??

Why would you build an NA 4-port engine? A stock NA engine is 6-port, while turbo engines were 4-port.

And there was no such thing as a twin-turbo 6-port in stock form. The 13b-RE & REW are 4-port twin-turbo engines from 3rd gen cars, but are anything but drop-in for a 2nd gen RX7.

ok so i did a little research and think i just might go the route of a turbo motor out of the 3rd gen. regardless of how much fab needs to be done. i hope this is fun...

For 300HP, just use a TII engine and a BNR hybrid.

Going to an REW would be excessive.

what is wrong with building a 4 port NA engine?I just finished dropping a S5 4 port keg with S5 na rotors fully bridged of my FB,RB intake,holley 650 double pumper,T2 trans,msd taking care of ignition and i know that im gonna kick some ***.Those 6 ports will not have a chance period.

^ your engine is carb'd. Mazda needed fuel injection for a functioning six port system. 6 port systems (and later VDI on s5's) give a broader powerband. In the top end range there's probably not a big difference between the two.

4 port. 6 port. It doesn't matter if the engine is ported properly, and the right compression rotors are used for the application. I have built 4 port engines with 9.7 rotors to run NA, and I have built 6 port engines with 8.5 rotors to run turbo. It really depends on what parts you have access to, and how much you want to spend.

lol, I knew this would turn into a discussion about built 4-port engines. Of course you can port the hell out of it and build a custom intake manifold to suit it, but that's generally FAR beyond the average person. Just saying that generally a 6-port engine is the best route if staying NA. Besides, the OP is asking about a 4-port NA vs. an REW! Kind of a big difference there.

To the OP your pissing money away going to the rew motor with a 300 horsepower goal. Its gonna be more headache than it's worth. Go to a modded t2 to begin with. It'll be enough power for your scrawny lil arms believe me.

god why do people even respond to something stupid like this. it seems that every kid that buys his rx7 has one plan in hid head. "hey the 3rd gen engine has the most power, why not stick that into my FC?" it should be posted somewhere that that is prolly the most time consuming and difficult swap that s/he can do. just seems that every kid that buys one this is the first thing they seem to think
