Should I Buy This Thing?
Here's the Craigslist:88' Rx7 - $2000
________________________________________
Selling this 88 rx7 for 2000.obo
Pros:
new clutch
new starter
rebuilt engine
new tires factory rims
paint in great shape
conviertible top working
Very fast car
Great handling
Gas saver
a/c and power windows.
registration paid needs smog only
Cons:
stereo needs work
seat covers wore out
With those minor adjustements cant ask for more on what you pay for. Perfect car to go to work and back. has 111.000 miles and runs like it was just of the lot come and take a look.
I looked at it and drove it yesterday and it seemed fine to me, but I am a rotary newbie I don't know if you can tell from that picture, but its a vert too. Any insight would be appreciated!

i guess you can't tell from the picture because it isn't working! Oh well... It's really clean exterior, red with a good top, factory BBSs, no body damage visible.

2000 seems cheap if thats really a rebuilt engine - ask to see paperwork from a shop and then if he doesnt have it its more than likely a frankenstien 13b
ive got a vert and i love it but let me tell you this:
this is what i would do
new clutch
new starter
rebuilt engine
-see paperwork for all this
new tires factory rims
paint in great shape
conviertible top working
-no comment
Very fast car
-try slowest rx7 made gets romped by v8 pickups slow
Great handling
-not that suspension is 17 years old or more
Gas saver
-more lies im gettin 200 miles to the full tank 15.5 gallons roughly
a/c and power windows.
registration paid needs smog only
2000 is the right price though im just lettin you know what you might now i bought mine for 3250 in good shape

I know, the whole gas saving thing is a joke! I think that the guy thinks that because its an import it must automatically be economical! The whole very fast thing was pretty funny too. Still, I'm not looking for a street racer or anything, just a cool car to drive around in. Plus its a vert, which to me is way cooler than the coupes. So, the guy said his brother gave the car to him or something, so I don't think that he will have the paperwork. I was gonna offer him 1700 cash. I figure if I get for that much and it blows up, I can just part it out. What do you guys think?

As far as a compression test goes, do you need to do anything differently than a piston motor? Just wondering because I was going to take it to a mechanic friend, but he's not a rotary specialist. Is it a waste of time taking it to him?
