Should i.....?

ok, I have been talking to this guy about a 1986 GXL. It is loaded with all the options, But, it has an overheating problem. He said he will sell it to me as is, for $750. But he can also swap in a new motor with 60kmiles for an extra $650. so i can basically get a mint running gxl for 1500. Now, I was wondering if i should do this, and weather or not i should keep the old motor, and get it rebuilt, and ported? any suggestions?

get the other motor if you really want this car. overheating is the biggest enemy of the RX-7. once your engine overheats bye bye rotary. just pay the extra money $1500 for a great RX-7 is cheap.

from my experience...the best thing to do is get a clean chasis....i bought my car and it has some rust on it, and i want to clean it all up.....engnes blow, exterior panels get deneted, interior wears, they all have to be replaced some time or another.....but a rusted chasis wont go away.

So theres really no chance of the engine being fixable if it has overheated? He said it runs and drives fine, but it overheats. I really dont know exactly how overheated he means. I have never had to deal with an overheating problem, but i just figured if i did a flush, and check the water pump, and belt, and the thermostat, and the radiator, it should be ok.

hehe i paid $3200 for my 88 with 135k miles, newer paint, oh, and a little rust, to eventually be a track/drift ****. Now i see pictures of these street FCs with aero and i look at my rust and cry because im not a body man and cannot make it go away without $$$. Soon I will have to get a rust free chassis donor, but luckily i live in AZ so that won be a problem........
Oh yeah its a TII with an Apex seal rebuild 60k miles ago....I wouldnt pay that much for N/a
