I feel kinda retarded posting this how to, but, can somebody please let me in on the proper removal method. Thanks

The proper removal method is to screw the **** off.

okay I will probably be flamed for even replying to this but...see the little chrome deal the boot ties around, you know, right under the ****....turn it to the right with a wrench using the flat sides provided for this purpose...yes to the right, this thing is seperate from the **** and will actually remove tension holding your shift know so tight...let us know

Check that you haven't broken the plastic insert in the pivot ball that keeps the lever from turning.

If you put a wrench on that piece you can turn it a tiny bit to the right and then hold that right while turning the **** left, gives you a way to lower some pressure on the little **** that keeps it from turning.

there is a "lock" nut on the bottom of the shifter ****. Turn it to the right while holding the ****. That should unlock them.
