shift horn

hey guys... i got a 89 s5... i was wondering, where exactly is that damned shift horn? im assuming its behind the dash somewhere but whats the easiest way of getting at it... basicly i wanna cut the horn off and wire the wires directly up to a shift light mounted on my dash so it flashes at redline... mainly because the horn bothers me.. and for some reason i respomd better to visuals rather than sounds... besides everytime i hear it i panic, lol i think someone is honking at me... thx guys

Shifit horn? You mean the buzzer at redline? DONT disconnect that buzzer, it does other things then buzz at redline. It might save your engine one day. If you dont like the buzzer try shifting before redline, save some gas (money).

It's the same buzzer for low coolant, low oil (I think, don't quote me on that) and probably for another warning I'm not thinking of. The redline buzzer isn't there for just the benefit of the turbo. Just like any other engine, it'll only take so many RPMs until something goes off kilter.

Basically, don't remove it. Tap into it if you can and do that for the shift light. Other than that...get some earplugs?

Just learn to love it, like the rest of have.

Of course if you really really need to kill it, there's probably a tach signal to the warning cluster that could be cut?

it is the low coolant and oil buzzer, and the one time it does go off and save your car you will love it forever after.

Keep in mind that while your new turbo isn't running out of breath that your stat gears, brearings, and water pump are still running out of oil or load capacity.

If the redline buzzer is bothering you at the track you aren't doing something right. With a helmet on and the rigors of driving I'm surprised that the buzzer registers with you. Just remember the redline buzzer is a friendly reminder from Mazda to shift, not so much a shift or die buzzer.
