Shift Buzzer not Working

My shift buzzer doeesn't go off when I hit 8k anymore, I'm afraid to rev any higher to see if it'll go off around 9 or sumthing, but I did try around 8.5k and no sound. What should I check?

just kepp shifting at 8k, thats why you have tach. if you are that worried about it, grab a fsm and run through the wiring diagram to figure out what might be causing it. if i ever get some free time i will run through and try to help more but i hate the buzzers and have deleted them.

Yeah the buzzer is only cool when your showing off to a friend. Other than that its a waste of electricity. Use the tach and use it wiseley.

HA, that's the exact reason I want to get it to work again.

It could be worse. Mine goes off at around 4500rpm and drives me nuts.

did you ever fix the problem? mine doesn't work either, i just got my car back on the road in june with a fresh rebuild after it was off for four years. i don't want the buzzer so much for the redline, although that would be nice, but so that it goes off when the add coolant light, or other lights, come on...

My buzzer, depending on its mood, works sometimes :p

Doesn't bug me too much, i rarely let people ride in my car anyway

If the buzzer is not working, but the tach is... then either the RPM circuit in the tach is out of adjustment or the buzzer itself is bad.

Buzzer being bad is the most common.

i'm betting on the buzzer being bad, cuz it didn't come on when my add coolant light came on when i blew my heater hose a couple months ago.... is there any way i could wire a new one in? i searched but no one seems to know....

The same buzzer is used to warn of low oil and low coolant, so you'd be wrong.

The shift light comes on for best fuel economy based on engine load and throttle position.

Two different things (shift up light and engine failure buzzer) although some people seem to think they are related; as one tells you when to shift for bets fuel economy while the other tells you when engine damage in eminent unless you do something to fix it fast.

Yeah, unsolder the old one off and solder a new 12 volt buzzer from Radio Shack (or your nearest electronics shop) in its place.

yeah we used to have radio shack here, they've since changed their name to the source by circuit city, but it's the same store it's located on the back of the instrument cluster, correct?

I was being sarcastic about the shift buzzer... and I don't buy cars with shift lights. hehe.

So what's your point? What else are you supposed to do other than shift?
