FD engine harness in a FC

a friend of mine is doing a engine swap on his FD due of that he blew the engine and he brought a JDM motor and it came with a mint engine harness and ecu , plus hes gonna give me the old blown motor so i can do a FD/FC engine. well i have all this parts and i was wondering if anybody or know anybody that have done the FD engine harness on a FC before and whats the differences? im not going to use the stock FD ecu but so i can use a power FC. thanks

the FD engine harness just won't work. it has a bunch of **** on it that you don't want to deal with...

you can get an AP engineering power FC or a power FC adapter kit from Banzai if you really want one.

if you grab a wiring diagram from the correct series FC and FD, and use the connectors on the FC's existing harness, you can probably make it work... but it may get a bit confusing.

Can you install a FD engine with harness and a FD PowerFC unit in a FC3S? Is there any chassi plugs that go to the ECU?

i know about the adapter but im going with a FD engine and i thought that i have the FD engine and harness and all the sensors and stuff with it just use the FD engine harness with a Power FC instead of hacking the FC engine harness and do the trailing coil mod so i can run the power FC

How about the FD 13B-REW ignitor and coils?
Are you going to install all of that too?

The FC coils / ignitors are not the same type, so this is NOT plug-n-play, nor can you just splice it in...

Then there's all the minor things like windshield wipers, water temp gauge, radiator coolant level sensor...?

Tach?

Ted. Would you say it´ll be easier with a haltech or other standalone when using a FD engine in the FC?

I put Haltechs on everything, so it's not a good question to ask me.

i know that the FC arent the same as the FD's the coils are under the UIM and the ignitor is on the driver side fender i have all the engine and most of the body harness of the fd. of couse im gonna splice wires of the wipers to add it on the FD harness, actually the water temp and lever sensor is on the FD engine harness already. is gonna take a while and i have all winter to doit. i just dont want to loose the sequencial turbos. might be a pain to get it right but i think is gonna be all worth it

its not hard at all

the fd harness powers the injectors the same as fc blk/y wire, 12v for a couple other engine sensors blk/w wire, coolant temp for the gauge is like an s5 on engine harness.but you will have to run fd ignitor and coils.i'm actually running a 96-98 fd harness in my 91 t2.
