it was to do with cold soler points in your cpu look on any 2nd gen website and in the FAQ you will see the fix to the cpu and for the wiper switch there is a resistor that goes bad you have to swap it that too is in the FAQ

The buzzer is good for two things:
1) Alarm clock on the freeway at 3am and you're driving off the road at 8000 RPMs.
2) Scaring the **** out of your friends because they think another car is honking at you and your about to crash into a Suburban.

Question: Is there a way to modify the buzzer to have it kick in at a different RPM? Say your mods warrant you a 7600 reline, can you shift the buzzer to that? I'm doubting it, but I thought I'd just ask, I'm not familiar with how the system works.

my buzzer starts at 6800, I just think of it as my turbo saying OOooouch, I like it cause this TII I have revs way faster than my old N/A and I wasn't used to shifting so fast

whats up-

you definately don't want that buzzer working. it's really annoying. and if you just so happen to be low on anti-freeze the damn thing NEVER goes off ! let stay dead. what do you need it for? if you need a buzzer to tell you how many RPM's your running you shouldn't be driving.

don't worry, my "I" position doesn't work on my wipers either...what else is new?

and as for the horn....your again, not the only one. mine only works half the time (that i wish worked all the time...just for use in the suburban example)

your saying that if you need the buzzer then you shouldnt be driving but yet there are tons of true drag racers that go get shift lights are you saying that they should be driving either? its just a way of knowing that your at or coming up on redline if your watching the road like you should be

Some people like the shift buzzer. I know I do and its fun scaring your passengers when it goes off. Maybe a trip to the junkyard to get a diff. CPU will fix it.

No, the shift buzzer is in the cluster, not in the CPU.

Please look it up before posting.

No no and more no... the shift buzzer is in the cluster not the CPU!!!

The buzzer gets old and dies. I have had some luck with spraying the shift buzzer in the cluster with contact cleaner and haveing a few work again, but for the most part they just need to be replaced.

The buzzer in the CPU controls all the other buzzing and beeping in the car except for the shift buzzer and the power steering fail warning beeps.

That's my story, right there. Every one of my friends that have been in my car have experienced the redline buzzer, I do it just to scare them... the girls are usually scared by the loud, high revs, then that sucker flicks on ("hey, you're going to fast! Why is that guy honking at you!?" and then they think I'm going to crash) and that's just in first gear, at like 37mph/7k RPM's

Oh geez...

Do you know why Mazda put that buzzer in there for low oil and coolant? Because they're both the LIFE of your engine. When that buzzer goes off, SHUT THE CAR OFF AND PULL OVER.

Yeah, it's annoying - for a reason. If you blow a heater hose or an oil cooler line, you can kill the motor in SECONDS.

If your cooling system is unhealthy to the point that the cooling buzzer routinely goes off, please sell your RX-7 to someone who actually CARES about the car. I've been through quite a few overheated motors, and that's the quickest way to turn a motor into unrebuildable junk.

Rant off.

Back to the issue at hand, the redline buzzer is in the instrument cluster. They can go bad over time - I've seen a few that were bad. You can get *any* 12v buzzer and replace it - I got one from Radio Shack and installed it for a friend once. The circuit board is labeled as well, and it's really easy to solder the 2 wires in and have your buzzer happy.

Dale

Well, the damn buzzer annoys me too.. But with a helmet on, I have to be totally focused on it to hear it.

I never said that I did not take care of my car. And I was also not referring to drag racers either. Excuse me. Chill.

If I had a choice the cooling and other stuff would be the only thing the buzzer would work on. I know what my car sounds like at the redline, so I don't need the buzzer for that. But thanks for the flames anyway.

HMMM thats pretty good hearing... I have been driving FCs since '87 and I still can't hear a difference between 6500 RPM and 7500 RPM.

Is it possible to install a redline buzzer on another car, like my R33?
