shaving moldings method? searched
I'd like to shave my door moldings but am wondering how to go about. A number of people have told me to use fiberglass. I'm worried about that as the door closing would send vibrations and also the different expansion rate fiberglass has as opposed to the metal. I figured that the same thing would happen that happens with molded in body kits: cracking and separation. I would like to do this right so anyone know how to do this properly? is fiberglass the answer?
And no, I don't want S5 moldings that "look better". I want them gone and smoothed over.

its not worth it. you have to do the bumpers too. which seems to be where all the trouble comes in at.
but if you wanted to do it i would suggest using sheet metal and tacking it on over where the moldings used to be. then grind the welds down, bondo, paint.

thanks, figured metal was the way to go.
I'm going to be doing a full widebody kit so the doors are the only section on the car I need to mold metal wise. The front fenders will be fiberglass as well as rear and they will cover the moldings on the car. I can just glass over the molding locations on the fiberglass parts. front bumper is going to be interesting to do as I am going with gp sports for the time being. the bomex front bumper doesn't look too bad and it doesn't really have a molding on it so I'll see how it looks. I might just leave the front bumper alone if it looks all right. the "molding section" on the gp sports bumper is kinda subtle. I'll be using the bomex rear bumper which I think goes great if the cars all molded. I'll attach a pic of the bomex kit so you guys understand what I'm on about.
the door area and rear quarter are going to be covered in a full color vinyl so the moldings have to go for the way I want it to look.
