Severe hesitation / fuel starvation at 3500rpm

Driving home from work last night, about 3min into my trip I rounded a corner started to come up to speed and the engine just about died on me.
Upon further experimentation I found the engine was hesitating at 3500rpm both off and under load and the idle is slightly rough.

I have searched extensively and found many similar threads that present a few solutions (injectors, vac leak, exhaust leak, grounds).
Currently I am working on the theory that the secondary injectors are to blame.

If you have any suggestions as to a possible cause, I would greatly appreciate hearing them.

Definitely not the 3800 hesitation,
I probably did not explain the problem too well. The engine will not rev over 3500 at all; it is not just a little lag kick at 3800.

J-spec 1990 (August) S5 turbo ~80,000 original km (50,000 miles)

Flawless operation for the last 4 years, not a single problem at all only mods (that I know of) are:
  • Trust exhaust
  • Trust Airinx air cleaner
  • Tanabe Strut tower braces
  • 17" Volk GT-C’s 8” rear, 7” front with 245/225 Dunlop direzza’s
Probably a few other bits and pieces, but I haven’t really had a need to pull things apart to check.
Car is going to my mechanic tomorrow, as I don’t have the equipment to diagnose this problem. I will post the resolution once I know for future search purposes.

nice tII. I bet you your relief pressure hose to the valve came loose. easy fix. it goes from under the acv(off the uim) to a air chamber(plastic bulb looking thing). check it before you go spend tons of money on a mechanic. pm if you have question about what im saying. Ive had this problem in the past. in fact I think Iv had every problem and fixed them all. good luck
