I WAS serious, dumbass. What, you think I'm on here giving advice for my health? YOu can start a seriously flooded car by rolling it off a hill and popping the clutch in 2nd...it gets the engine spinning very quickly (10x what the starter can) and builds compression quickly. You can start blown motors, flooded motors, waterseal motors, just about anything that will spin. ONe time I started a motor that had 4 blown apex seals and a 2" square hole on the intermediate iron surface. It burned out 5 quarts of oil and a gallon of coolant in 1 mile, but it did run.

Although I totally believe what RR is saying, that would fall under the category of "last resort" in my book. The last thing you want to do is go flying down some hill with no power steering and no power brakes, while concentrating on other things.

When my '91 flooded, I could always start it by holding the gas pedal to the floor, then carefully modulating the pedal until it caught. BUT, I'm not sure that holding the pedal down in an '88 shuts off the fuel like it does on an S5's.

I'm just wondering why this is still being discussed about a year after the last post...
