Sensor on top of the radiator rewired?

There is a sensor on top of the radiator, which waqs previously rewired, such as the sensor's wire is just hanging and the wiring harness end is pluged to the body (grounded), What is that for? I whould like to know the sensor name and the reason for rewiring

Another thing if i plug the sensor back to harness "Add Coolant" light and buzzer comes off

I believe that would be your coolant sensor.Must have gone bad and some one rigged it so they wouldn't hear that buzz.

Or it has a leak in the cooling system, which I would further investigate before your engine goes boom.

That be your low coolend sensor.

The "Add Coolant" light is on when the wire is hooked to ground but off when it is hooked to the harnes?

They don't commonly go bad, but sometimes when the coolant level is a little low, the coolant low light will come on when you turn corners or drive slow. You have to open the air bleed screw to let air out while you add coolant. Some people ground the wire harness connector and leave the sensor unplugged so that the buzzer doesn't annoy them.

Only on S4's.

The sensors do go bad quite frequently, actually. Always be wary buying a car that has this sensor grounded.
