hopefully i'm wrong, but the guy has built what? 3? 5? engines in his life? then he started bashing the oregon shops saying he wanted to open a rotary shop to help the community, then this, way to go joe. a basic hand cranking test would tell him if the engine has any major issues.

 

I dunno I didnt look into it anymore then a private sale on the classified I put up a wtb for s4 na longblock he said he was a business and had one for me. My fault for being trusting and niave for sure...

 

And there is like no air coming out of b spark plug holes do you think push start would really stand a chance?

 

honestly i don't know, i can't see what you're trying to describe to me since there won't be much air coming out when turning the engine by hand.

perhaps there is an accessory mounted to the engine that is seizing up, try taking the belts off and see if it rotates freely.

 

I did, still turns harder then it should. No air is coming out of spark plug hole at all. My blown original motor even does, so does my rebuilt tii on the stand.

 

"Not around the phone today. the motors i build i use crisco for assembly lube as i assume its not going into storage, but a car. It hardens and will be fine when its heated and started for the first time. Its a new motor, not a blown motor. Also, the externals were a gift, that was good faith and charity, my motor rebuilds are 1500 for the keg and i require others to provide the keg. So being that i supplied the keg and that i tossed in the externals was a rx7club hookup, not part of the business deals and motors i sell. My site and my builds have always been that. keep checking things that you possibly goofed up during the install like a seized pilot bearing or clutch dragging, etc.

if everything looks fine i would do as i said, try pull starting it and you will find the cause of failure.

if he stands by his work he should cover it.

and crisco doesn't harden(not like i would use that crap instead of vaseline, the price is nearly the same), so i'm not sure what is going on inside.

 

Well I got the water temp sensor, and was going to try the pop start idea. When I filled up the coolant though a nice water fall of fluid came out from the water pump. This dude is a scumbag and a half.

 

sorry, it's not sounding good at this point.

i would just keep trying to sort out the issues and see what comes of it, figure out where the coolant is coming from and possibly reseal the water pump.

not that i want to see you waste your time if the engine winds up being faulty but you gotta cover all the bases before moving onto knowing for sure if it will live or not.



and be sure to let people know the outcome so others don't wind up in the same boat. if he is about what he claims to be about he will take care of it, if not he's full of **** like so many others who have come and gone.

 

Did you have the engine shipped across the country or are you in the Pacific Northwest? And are you motivated to reach out and touch Joe?

 

Unfortunately I live in NY and had it shipped. I sent him a message on his FB page https://www.facebook.com/jmclassicimports and he never answered even though it said the message was read, and he responded using that before. I guess I will just start the paypal claim tomorrow, no use in ******* with someone that has already gave me this much ****. I will def make a thread on that other forum that he has been using. Rotary Car Club or whatever...

 

I wouldn't expect anything but insults thrown back at you. I know that even in his INTRODUCTORY thread that I would never do business with him... just because of the attitude that emanates from him online.

He bitched and moaned about a few other people, then kinda died off...

Bottom line is building these engines isnt hard, and doesn't take more than a handful of special tools, provided that everything is in decent shape. I say pull the engine apart, and check it all out. Put it back together yourself... its REALLY not that hard, just time consuming. The car obviously isnt going anywhere as it sits now...

 

True but I still want him to be off paypal as a user before someone else gets screwed over by him. I'd like my money back too. If I wanted to rebuild one myself I would have just used my own core you know? Maybe this is a good opportunity to learn for sure. Just think that he shouldn't have my money in his pocket.

 

most definitely, his thread on RCC was recent and he made it sound like he was just getting started and never mentioned closing the shop. so considering everything up to date it sounds as if this won't be the end of it.

he just couldn't understand the most basic of principles. considering he ignored just about everything told to him i find it highly unlikely he will change or own up to this, he seems to be like most people and shift the blame off himself.

Well I actually found out wrong pump wasnt even bolted in the bottom. Put right one in and filled up with coolant. Started turning over and def had compression but it flooded. Did the deflood proceedure and after I pulled egi fuse it wont even attempt to start even with it back in

 

compression test it too see how healthy the motor is. or maybe it was just not turning over fast enough by hand use the starter and have a buddy listen for 6 even "swoosh's" like this swoosh swoosh swoosh swoosh swoosh swooch. it should sound perfectly even on all 6 apex seals you can look into it more via rotaryressurection.com

 

considering his lacking attention to detail thus far i wouldn't be surprised if the engine was built with almost all used parts and is extremely loose.

dry out the engine by removing the plugs and egi fuse and crank it over for a few minutes, clean and dry the plugs and pump in a few squirts of MMO into each chamber and reassemble and try to fire it. if that fails, pull start.
