Self Modifying Stock ECU?

Is this possible? I have 2 spares that I can play with. Also, one of my spares has a burnt transistor from the OMP going out on the car it was on. Can I just resolder anew one in its place? Oh yeah, S5 n/a ECUs.

There shouldn't be a problem replacing it, as long as it has the same specs as the previous one. Time to hit up radio shack! How's your headlight idea coming along? Also, did you see the pictures of my project underway?

Yeah! Glad to see the a/c went well! I never got around to mine. I got the headlight assemblies, but I am still trying to decide what to use to create the scoop! I guess Radio Shack would be a good place to get the right transistor! Thanks!

Well good luck! I bought a crapload of transistors/capacitors/resistors from radioshack for a project I was working on for my car, however I gave up on it for the moment. Hope that does the trick for you, sometimes they don't stock a very large variety which sucks.

Sure you can. Just follow these easy steps :
1. Unsolder the PROM from the ECU.
2. Get a ROM reader/writer for your PC and download the data.
3. Decypher all the values at each address to interpret the where the fuel & spark maps are and how the values are correlated to the actual timing advance degrees and injector duty cycle.
4. Start re-tuning by over-writing revised spark & map data onto a new PROM (with that reader/writer you just bought), install it into your car and dyno the results.
5. Repeat 4 until satified with your results.

OR

1. Go to www.mdrace.com or www.jetchip.com
2. Shell out ~$300 to avoid all the aggrevation in previous steps 1-5.

I always liked the connect the dots approach to electrical circuit boards, but $300 doesn't sound like that would be a good idea with!

Jeez, imagine that seal giving way at 9K rpm, that would be impressive to watch!

Good point. Better do some nice fuel mods first. But still, the 20 hp gain it showed on the dyno charts would be nice!!!!!

I'm always afraid of my motorbike, it redlines at 14,000RPM, I'm just so afraid at something braking and the force that's going to be behind that. Talk about massive centrical force!

my mom nearly shot me, and my girlfriend nearly ripped my heart out with her bare hands. Yeah, I want a GSXR750, but I guess my ninja 250 will suffice for now
