Security Alarm fast beeps when activated
I searched the forum but didn't find any mention of this, I don't know if it is a problem but its the first time it has happened on my 89 GTU. When I locked my car this morning with the inside drivers door switch the security alarm started doing a fast beeping instead of the one beep to let you know it is activated. I checked the lights and ignition and found nothing left on.
Anyone know if this means anything?

I think it means the alarm's brain is confused, and it can't arm.
My prevoius owner had an aftermarket alarm installed which later died, leaving a rat's nest
of wires near the factory alarm.
I don't even want to think about troubleshooting that mess.

When the problem first showed, I cleaned both door switches, both hatch switches, & the hood switch.
The inside lights work & the hatch & hood warning lights work.
I quit there because my alarm wiring is all snarled up.
It beeps a little lower if I leave the key in or the lights on, then a little higher when I set the lock, then it goes quiet when I shut the door.

Thanks, I checked the drivers side door switch and it was the culprit. I cleaned it and all is well. I'll check the others this weekend. Again, thanks for the information and advice. As always y'all were right on with the help.
PS Didn't need a hammer after all!
