second broken radiator ARG!

Hi all, In the last month I have gone through 2 stock radiators. One was even a T2 radiator (I Was told it was better). Anyways, today I Was messing with the TPS (still cant get it set correctly or something arg) and I hear gargle bubble hiss blah blah and the VERY top of my radiator (right next to the little rectangle label) is all green and bubbling.) This is the SECOND time this has happened EXACT same spot.

Is there something wrong with our radiators? Am I doing something wrong? Do koyos have this issue?

NA and Turbo radiators are the same.

There is nothing inherently wrong with our radiators, they're just old. Most cars made in the last 20 years have radiators with plastic tanks, and it's perfectly normal for them to fail at this sort of age. Heat makes plastic brittle over time, so a low-mileage used radiator is likely to last a lot longer than a high-mileage one. The fact that you had two used radiators fail like that is only bad luck in that the second one was obviously in similar condition to the first one. You have to expect that really.

Do koyos have this issue?
You mean will the aluminium end-tanks of a Koyo radiator split in 15-20 years? Probably not...

NA's really don't need an upgraded radiator, and a new stock radiator will last as long as the original, so the only real advantage of an aftermarket all-metal radiator is their price. They seem to be cheaper than OEM ones so you might as well get one.

You could always go buy a brand new brass core radiator from like Napa or someplace similar.

Ya, I am going to try and make it home (3 hours of highway driving) with the little hole in the top of the radiator. He told me I would have a metal radiator ready when I get home, no clue what brand, but it cant be worse then stock could it?

I have a brass core all metal tank radiator that I bought on www.Radiatorbarn.com. It works fine in the Texas heat with A/C running. At $165 shipped its a pretty good deal.

Regarding three hours of highway driving with the radiator split, that's a really bad idea. You should re-examine your options and do something else.

Good luck!
