Shifter locked up on me? Help!
Anyone have there shifter just lock into a gear? I have a 1990 GTU 5spd. CAn't seem to get the damn shifter out of first. I'm afaraid to just pull hard. What could be stuck? Fork? pressure plate?
Any help would be appreciated.

Check the master and slave, and make sure they are working right. the clutch might not be releasing correctly, or not releasing all the way. If you press the pedal in, im assuming it does the same thing, or you wouldnt be here. I havent ever had that problem, but ive heard about it before. Wish i could help you out more.

I was coming off the high way and i had it in 5th but instead of going into neutral I just left it in 5th. I had the clutch in then i came to a stop so i tried to put it in first and i wouldnt go in . The car starts right up then u let out of the clutch and it boggs down. Obviously because it's in 5th gear... SHoudl I just pull extra hard on it??
Clutch was recently replaced, does it sound like the fork is out of wack or something?

I dont consider that a bad thing)
i had that prob once. theres a spacer under the shifter mounting ring and mine was worn and broke in 2 pieces. unbolt your shifter and check that. its a small black ring about 3/4 inch thick. thats what caused my problem. good luck
STEP ONE, remove shifter
STEP TWO, remove fluid from shifter housing
STEP THREE, look for broke crap
I once was stuck in 2, took the shifter out and a bushing had shattered and lodged itself so that it wouldnt allow the shift bowl to move.
