Secodaries not working

Ok, so on my T2 swap (S4) the secondary injectors arent working, I need a hand in figuring out what to do here, some direction if you will. Where should I start, I dont know what to look for.- Dustin

How do you know they're not working? Any symptoms?

To see if the secondaries are actually capable of firing or not pull off the UIM and take off the injector connector on the secondaries and apply 12v to one of the prongs on the injector and ground the other for a split second. If you hear a click then they work. Next step is to figure out why they are not firing when they are supposed to.

My symptoms are it cuts out over 4k, it won't rev past that.

take off the secondaries. Press in the little *** at the end of the injector(will not go in much) at the other end of the injector blow. If you feel air go through, then it is flowing freely, if not it is plugged. Also use this time to look at four things, Grommets, Orings, , injector cap, and the hoses that connect and go from the fuel rails. Make sure that the hoses are secure and have clamps.

So if I apply power and they both work, then can I test connectors with a normal test light- or what? Then say that comes up faulty- no signal. Then is the problem the wiring, should i trace it all back( I just put the harness in for the swap and it all SEEMED ok). and if that not the problem then where to go to next?

I mean though- could it be a problem with whatever sends the signal(ecu i imagine) or a sensor, or is the problem most likely the injectors themselves and or wiring?

Also should i not be driving it around? am i hurting anything if i stay under 3500 rpm

First check the injectors, then check the wiring. I just had to deal with a clogged injector. If its clogged you can pick one up cheap from the junk yard or kevin landers(rotary ressurection).
Then move onto the wirirng. First check for the clip, then the actual wire its self.

As for driving it, dont do it. It screws things up by not giving the engine enough gas and the ecu is still trying to push that gass somewhere. Could end up kinda nasty.

say only one is clogged or not working- would that cause it to not rev up- it cuts off then backfires- i have a video but its too large to post

I don't know if this is the best way, but I found I can check my secondaries' electrical operation by sticking my digital meter's probe in the (S4's) solenoid resistor pack. If you put your probe in the pin-out for a secondary injector, ground the other probe, and put your meter in the car, you can drive it and see what happens. If the injectors are getting the correct signal, the voltage will stay constant under heavy throttle until about 3800RPM, and then noticably appear to drop a little bit.

There is a wire for each injector at the solenoid resistor, but I forget the colors for the 2 secondary wires.

Tell me, when you did the swap, what did you do for a EMISSIONS HARNESS? Use the old non turbo one OR install a turboII EMISSIONS HARNESS? This is an IMPORTANT question.
