Sorry for this but....

Here is the situation, My car has been acting like **** for what seems like forever ( at least since I have owned it) and I have tried everything I can

Messed with timing, found a few vacuum leaks, messed with the MAF, got a new TPS, put stock injectors back in the primaries, got new spark plugs, new fuel filter.
all of these things slightly helped.....but still has problems

basically it just SUPER bogs out, you CANNOT even go 75% throttle on it.

** oddly enough if you turn off the car and let it sit for a 3 mins or so, then turn it back on, it will not have this problem long enough to make it to the next light(which I had ti find out the hard way)

So i find myself messing with the timing again and I noticed something strange, when I put my gun over on the tailing coils, it doesn't shoot consistently, only shoots like every 3 seconds and only for maybe .5 of a sec

does this mean my coil sucks ? or is my gun just **** now ?

I have never heard of coils going bad, at least, in my experience with them

if you are using an Induction Light, you really have to Get Finicky with where you place the lead.Sometimes it just won't read at all.
and yes,Coils do go bad.I checked mine by popping a wire off at the coils and checking color of the Spark that jumps across the Coil to the Plug lead. The Trailing coil can go bad and only fire one Coil,so that would mean that one rotor is running good and the other one is running with leading only.
Clean the Grounds on your Coil packs,to make sure they get a good solid contacting ground.
By the way,What Kind of car are we Working on here?/N/A?..TII?/.Let us know.
Have you checked the fuel system, changed the 20 year old filter, the sock in the Fuel tank?
Find a thread on how to check for Vacuum leaks..
Have you Changed your AFM out to see if that would make a difference?.Is the AFM Level?(if it is not level the car will act real Wonky).
anyways, that is something to Look into.
cheers.

is it an S5? I wouldn't be surprised if it's going into limp mode because you have a bad OMP.

If I remember correctly for all intents and purposes the Trailing coil is mainly used for burning of leftover gasses from the leading spark this among the tach signal(again IIRC) so a bad trailing coil wouldn't do what you describe. I would also say that you are probably looking at limp mode if you have an S5 there's a good chance your MOP is dead or dying.

btw yes MOP not OMP :-p

hmmm....I have a strong feeling my omp is leaking

but I have a S4 TII, and I guess S4's dont have this "limp" mode ??

currently, I admit my AFM is not level, but when I had the stock intake set up it was still doing the same thing I decribed, I had to change it because mine had a very nice hole in the bend of the "S"

ok, have updates now

I tried a new trailing coil, didnt seem to help any, but it didn't cost me anything either

I have video now !!

I was messing with my car and I set the timing and found a few vacuum leaks, now I noticed something strange...

after I set the timing and stuff, I went out for a test run and it was still running like ****, but after I came back from my little run, i checked the timing again and it was way retarded, it went back to the red mark ( the trailing mark )

On rare occasion a boost sensor can act this way. Simple way to test is by just unplugging the boost sensor and seeing if it acts right.
Does more less sound like ignition though. Trailing shouldn't effect full throttle power though
Faulty knock sensor will retard the engine too

For those that think the trailing *shouldn't mess with the drivability of the car.... try unplugging yours and drive it. I had my vert worked on at my tech school years ago, and one of the idiot students didn't plug in the trailing coil. Tried driving my car... whoo! Talk about gutless wonder (even worse than an N/A already is)

BTW, are you allowing the car to fully warm up, intalling a jumper in the initial set coupler, and adjusting the idle by the setscrew before fooling with the timing?

This may be kinda off the wall, but in what conditions are your cats in? Maybe they are partially blocked and cannot pass enough exhaust through them at 75% idle, causing it to bog down.

I think he doesn't have cats. He did pull his fuel pump and his sock was ditty and the tank looked pretty bad. May be getting clogged
