Talking seached but no answer

well, im not getting an rx7, but my friend is, well maybe, we went to go see how it was. this guy put so much **** into it, originally was an automatic N/A 1990 i think gtus, so then he got the engine rebuilt street ported it, n then his apex seal blew. he said, fuckl it, it wasnt enough!!! so then he bought a jap spec 13bt, yes i said jap spec 13bt, jap spec drive train, along with the tyranny, all set up was sitting for like a couple of months cuz of no parts, so then he got everything together in one shot, full blitz exhaust, apexi blow off valve, strut bar, intercooler that mazda speed recommends, and a whole bunch of other parts, basically transformed it into a jap left sided drive infini t2, without the twin turbo, got the body moldings n everything, looks so nice : ). needs some paint, took out power steering, he said he replaced it with some other stuff, said alaignment (forgive spelling) was off a little n shakes a little when u go over 70 mph, also one thing i need to know how to fix is the odometer, is it just a case of rewiring, or do i need to have my friend get a new gauge cluster or what???

REPLY ASAP

Fix the odometer? Sure you don't mean spedometer or tachometer?

the speedo is connected with just a mechanical cable that comes from the tranny. If its connected already then the speedo could be dead.

Check the connection behind the cluster and on the tranny as well. You can see how it comes out from behind the cluster through the firewall and down to the tranny if you have trouble finding it.

The blue indigo ones are just a cover that goes over the stock gauge faces. You still need the needle to move. I think it is possible for the actual gear in the speedo to be broken but check the speedo cable first.

Check the connection of the speedo cable in back of the cluster and the tranny.See if it spins. If it spins at both ends then its the speedo.

New ball joints might help your "over 70" vibration. Looks like the boys have covered the speedo pretty well, lol...
