Seached but my electrical prob. is diff.
okay so i get in my car and when i stick the key in, the normal beeps go on then when i go to crank it up all electical things go out lights everything! im thinking its my ecu cuz my cars stock security goes off for no reasons and it says theres an open door when all doors are closed and my clock sometimes works and sometimes it doesnt. o yea and im not sure if my battery is low(gonna check it later) but the lights turn on bright when i stick the key in the "I" but when i turn it towards "II" lights either dont work or there very dim do u guys have any idea if its my ecu, alt or battery?
hmmmm.....i dont think its the alternator....dont get me wrong though but ur car can run off just the juice from the battery
check the battery
and i also believe that advance auto or someplace can check the error codes from the ecu.....or you could get a code reader from nappa or something for like 40$ if i remeber correctly
(checks for prices of code readers)

you can check the codes your self. Also check your grounds. My car woud completly die when i tried to start it and i would have to disconnect the battery to get her back. After i did a ground wire revamp everything is a.o.k.

I'm not sure how many codes s4's throw.
My guess is a low battery. It might be enough to run the lights and such, but the pull from the starter overloads it. Try jumping it and see what happens. And make sure you get a good connection on the cables.

Clock not working usually means the clock warning panel needs rebuilding or replacement
