screws stripped....

On my stock airbox, about half the screws are stripped. I have no way in changing the filter. Any ideas on how to get it off. I want to get an intake at some point but I don't have the scrilla at the moment to buy one so I need to find a way to replace it for now. Would a cheap autozone cone filter be better?

I've not seen them stripped, I've seen the plastic shattered and the threaded sleeves drop out. Look on "e" Bay, or post in classified here on the forum. Ther's plenty on them around.

If im not mistaken the stock airbox screws also have hex heads so that you can use a socket , dont they?

You will want to avoid the cheap cone filters, as several people have found on this board, that parts tend to fall off and into the intake system.

If the screws are so bad that you can't use a 10mm socket or a screw driver, then you will need to replace the airbox. They are pretty cheap on ebay and the junk yards all the time.

Why don't you use vice scrips to hack them off, than replace them accordingly considering they are already destroyed? Don't resort to buying a new assembly due to not being unable to remove the hex bolt/screws.

Why don't you buy an HKS air filter or a K&N filter charger kit from mazdatrix.
