Scared....
Detonation sounds like popcorn popping and/or a pinging noise like vaughnc said. You need to get an exhaust on there, and before you start modifying things you should have a real boost gauge (the stock one isn't all that great), an air fuel meter, and/or an exhaust gas temperature gauge.

Thanks for the tips, and please excuse my noobness but this is my first car and I never knew anything about turbos or rotarys so it has been a learning experience, so plz just be patient
Also I know detonation is a VERY bad thing, but what are the effects of it left unchecked? Just so i know if it has already caused permanent damage yet

Yup, not 5th and 6th on T2s but even if you had them you would not want to wire them open because you loose low end torque which is bad for launches, not to mention going up hills. If you want to put a free-flowing exhaust then wire them to open when you reach a certain RPM.
