S5 Turbocharger Rebuild Kit
Ok... Ok... There have been many threads started on this topic but none of them really come to full conclusion. What im looking for is a S5 Turbocharger rebuild kit. Does anyonehave a reliable source to get a master rebuild kit for these turbochargers? Any ideas where I should even start looking??

Someone on this site must be rebuilding the series 5 turbo units! I don't think mazdatrix supplies and or will send you in the right direction for turbo rebuild kit. they're answer is... buy a new turbo... I have a Hybrid S5 turbo (ported wastegate and garrett a/r .50 ec-1 m24 turbo, its not smoking or leaking yet, but its really nice and I want to make sure she lasts a long time. as itsa really nice combination.

Let me know if you find a place with 360degree thrust bearings, they dont have that

The internal guts should be the same on the S5 and S4 turbos. The only difference should be the turbine housing, and I'm not 100% sure if the wheels are different. Make sure to have your rotating assembly balanced while rebuilding, or it might be all for naught.

Its the same rebuild kit, the only difference in the s5 turbo is the exhaust housing and the rod on the actuator for the wastegate.
BNR stage 1 requires stock housing to be machined and a bigger intake wheel.
I just went with a to4 intake side and bolted it all on. At the time I got it for $160 for the backing plate, housing, and to4 wheel, but I also paid a good amount for the rebuild too. After taking the turbo apart a few times, its really easy to rebuild. If you got all the parts cleaned and balanced, it should not take more than an hour. If you tkae your time, less than 2 hours.
The to4 intake side I got required a little bit of grinding to clear the intake manifold. It works great and is a hell of a lot better than stock. Make sure you got the ecu and fuel to back it up.
160 for rebuild kit+ 25 balancing+ 160-220 for to4 intake side=345-405 bucks for basically a stage 2 bnr. Just no 360 thrust bearing on mine, and i ported my s5 wastegate myself. I highly recomend a s5 manifold and turbo

Did a bit more research and have found a few sources on this site stating that the stock turbo has nearly identical internals to a t3/t4 turbo and canbe rebuilt with the same rebuid kit?? Does anyone know if this is true?
It might be. I had a problem with this one turbo shop rebuilding my turbo. He didnt have the correct oil control ring on the exhaust side. So my car burned oil.
I would honestly stick with the one made for the exact hitachi turbo. Just figure out where u can get a 360 thrust bearing. And let me know.
I bought a used turbo off this guy, I had it rebuilt by a turbo shop at first. I dont htink the turbo shop guys measured out everything very well, because I had to figure out the problem myself. The bore on the oil control ring was no good, either I bought the used turbo like that, or the improper oil control ring messed it up. I know a friend that used the turbocity kit and its good.
Ive even been to one turbo shop, and they refuse to rebuild hitachi turbos.
