S5 turbo swap. new oil return line??

I have a s4 13bt block but am swapping a s5 turbo on it. I heard once that the oil line from the turbo to the block is slightly different than the line for the s4 turbo(and will not fit). Can anyone confirm this? I would like to avoid HAVING to buy SS braided lines if possible.

Yes the return lines are different. Its the ex. manifold different too but, thats obvious. The heat shields are swapable although the'll fit funny.

s5 doesn't have the angle....

Yeah. They're different oil lines (lengths) like mentioned in the post above.

NY s5 t2 front cap

Just so you know right now there is a s5 t2 front cap for sale on ebay. That is under 70 bucks. Might be worth looking at. It is against rx7club.coms rules to post a link to ebay so just search for rx7 front cap you will find it. Good luck with your car..

Just use the S4 return line. It fits perfectly on my car.

And for the heatshield, the S4 turbine shield section will fit if you cut the bottom section off. The manifold shield could work, but you'd really have to reshape it.

Now i'm confused because I've now heard from 5 people that the oil line from the turbo to the block does not fit. And you are saying it does. did you fab anything? or are you saying you swapped the s4 turbo out for the s5 turbo and used all the same lines(on a s4 block)

fyi. i do have the s5 mani too. and will not be using the heat shield.

It's possible I have a bad memory. But that return line is shorter/longer for one version vs the other. I have no spares right now to look at.

I used the S4 stock oil line and it fit perfectly fine on the S5 turbo for me. However the coolant passage line on the top needed some bending to actually work.

On another rx7 I also did a s5 turbo on S4 block swap and the oil line didn't line up but the coolant passage line on the top lined up perfectly. I just assumed that each engine had its own little quirks and nothing lines up just the same as the next car.

I have an s4 with an s5 turbo. I used the s5 oil return line. The s4 will not fit for an s5 turbo. Try finding the s5 heatsheilds to if you can. I can post pics later at home if you want.

No fabbing at all. All of the S4 lines fit, so I didn't have to do anything. I'd heard the same thing about the lines, but the S5 line also has a different mounting point on the front cover. I've just assumed that if the S5 line is actually longer, it's to compensate for that, and not the differences in the turbo location.

S4 block, S4 oil / coolant lines, S5 turbo.

You just need to use the lines that are currently on your block. It's the front cover that dictates which oil return you use. So, your current S4 line needs to swap onto your new S5 turbo.

S4 block, S4 oil / coolant lines, S5 turbo.

I got that wrong. I did use the s4 oil return line. Here is a pic of the s5 oil return line. Note that the gasket will be diffrent s4 vs s5.
